The Royal Pewter design originates from events that took place in Scandinavia almost 1000 years ago. Then only high ranking characters like Kings used pewter.

The Viking period was more than just a period of violence and barbaric customs. The Viking kings surrounded themselves with artists of various kinds, and it was a point of honor for the kings themselves to be able to handle artistry.

The sagas tell us that Olav the Holy, who introduced Christianity, carved the dragon's head on one of his longships. Olav the Holy and his Viking men are the inspiration of the Royal Pewter pattern.
